Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Q: How much does it cost to have someone come out?
A: Nothing at all. Estimates and assessments are completely free.
Q: What exactly is an estimate and an assessment?
A: When you already know what your problem is we will come out and give you a repair/replacement estimate at no charge. If you need us to come out and figure out the problem then we start with a free assessment. If the problem is not readily able to be diagnosed and requires extensive troubleshooting, we will explain the problem and quote an upfront price for troubleshooting/repair.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: All of our services accept credit/debit cards, checks/money orders, or cash.
Q: Do you offer financing?
A: We have several financing options available. Our technicians and office staff are able to review all options and find the best fit for you.
Q: Do you price match?
A: We will price match any company who matches our service, warranty, licensing, performance bond and insurance. A fly-by-night company or a Joe Blow in a van can always beat a legitimate company's prices if they don't carry the proper licenses, bonds, and insurance, or if they do not warranty or guarantee their work, and so we do not price match against illegitimate companies.
HVAC FAQ's
Q: Help! It's hot/cold and the middle of the night and my air is out! Do you provide emergency service?
A: Absolutely! All our trades--HVAC, Electric, & Plumbing--provide 24/7 emergency service.
Q: How much more is it for an emergency call?
A: We charge no additional fees for after hours or weekend work.
Q: Can you work on any type of AC unit?
A: Most definitely. Whatever the brand or the type, we've got you covered.
Electrical FAQ's
Q: Do I need an electrician or just a handyman?
A: As a general rule, anything dealing with your electrical systems is going to require a licensed electrician. Fortunately, since we are both a licensed electrical company and have a handyman home repair division we can help you in either way.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Electrical services/repairs vary so widely in type that there isn't any set or standard price. That is why we offer free estimates and the $25 diagnostic service call so you can learn up front what is needed for your repair and how much it will cost you before committing to anything.
Q: My problem is urgent, how long will it take to get fixed?
A: While we pride ourselves in shockingly fast service, often times we have to wait on permits or the utility company. When our electrician quotes the job they can give you a very good idea of how long it will take to complete.
Plumbing FAQ's
Q: Does my water have to be cut off during plumbing repairs?
A: It depends on the type of repair, but definitely there are times we have to cut the water off. Knowing what an inconvenience this can be we work as quickly as we can to get you back to full working order.
Q: Does plumbing require a license?
A: Absolutely. Surfside Services has both a master plumber's and master gas fitter's license so that we can handle all of your gas and plumbing needs.
Q: My leak made a terrible mess: what do I do about the damage once my plumbing is fixed?
A: While our plumbers cannot help repair water damage to ceiling, floors, walls, etc, our handyman home repair department can. Whatever damage your leak caused, not only do we have the plumbers for the plumbing but we have the handymen for everything else.
Home Cleaning FAQ's
Q: What time will the cleaning army be here and for how long?
A: Our team always gives a window of arrival so that you know exactly when to expect them. The length of time depends on the size of the job. We do our best to estimate how long it will take, but we are committed to taking as long as is needed to make sure your home is cleaned right.
Q: How many cleaners do you send?
A: Anywhere from one professional to five depending on the size of the job.
Q: Once you get started, do I run the risk of getting charges extras that weren't discussed up front?
A: Never. While our standard pricing listed on our website may change if we look at a job and find it to be excessively dirty, any changes to pricing are always discussed upfront and never once we have started a job.
Home Repair FAQ's
Q: How much does a home repair typically cost?
A: Since handyman work encompasses so many different types of jobs there isn’t a standard or average cost. However estimates are free and we give up front prices.
Q: Are your handymen licensed?
A: Unlike with HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing where state licenses are required, ‘handyman’ is not a licensed trade. Our handymen are insured and bonded, however, and vastly experienced.
Q: Do I have to pay upfront?
A: Unless it is an exceptionally large job where we may require a deposit upfront, our fee is due at the completion of the job.
Power Wash FAQ's
Q: Can power washing damage my surfaces?
A: Absolutely, which is why our professionals assess your surfaces upfront and discuss soft washing any surfaces that present a concern for damage.
Q: Does soft washing actually get it clean?
A: Soft washing is extremely effective in cleaning a surface. More sensitive surfaces, such as painted surfaces where stripping the paint is a concern, are exactly where soft washing is called for.
Q: Do you use chemicals?
A: We use the most environmentally friendly chemicals that can still get the job done. If you want zero chemicals used we do offer this option, but due to the increase in time required to complete the job it does tend to increase our quote.
Lawn Care FAQ's
Q: How much does a lawn service typically cost?
A: Lawn services start at $40 and go up from there, but typically a ‘standard’ yard is $45. When you’re ready, we will take a look at your yard and give you a price upfront.
Q: What all does a yard service include?
A: Mowing, weed eating, and edging. If you need your bushes or garden maintained as well we can give an upfront price.
Q: How often do you come and do I have to sign a contract?
A: We do not require contracts and are able to come as often or infrequently as you want us to. We do try to have a regular schedule with our clients as opposed to just being called when needed, but you definitely can just call us when you need us and we will work you into the schedule as quickly as possible.
